RISE was created to give women physicians a unique forum to connect and learn in support of a continued journey toward equity in medicine. The annual in-person conference launched in 2023 focuses on professional development training for women in medicine. RISE offers a unique opportunity to build non-clinical skills critical to career advancement and success.
RISE offers a unique opportunity for women cardiologists to unite, share knowledge, and collaborate. By fostering meaningful relationships and building consensus on best practices, RISE supports the mission of advancing gender equity in medicine.
RISE seeks to empower women cardiologists by bringing together experts from within and outside the medical field. These diverse perspectives inspire attendees to reflect on their role in effecting meaningful change in the field of medicine. RISE aims to help women physicians to break down barriers and achieve their full potential.
RISE offers a thoughtfully planned mix of didactic sessions, workshops, and case-based discussions, with solution-focused sessions led by expert faculty. Conference attendees strengthen their skills and chart their strategic paths forward by leveraging cross-specialty and cross-industry expertise for professional success
RISE attendees leave the conference reenergized and ready to apply new solutions in their own professional journey. Together, we RISE to meet the challenges before us, knowing that by working together, we can achieve our goals and create a better future for all.
The RISE conference returned for its second edition in partnership with The European Society of Cardiology, alongside the ESC Congress in London. RISE 2024 Program Directors Professor Barbara Casadei, Dr. Roxana Mehran and Dr. Azin Parhizgar addressed women’s underrepresentation in leadership roles in both academic and clinical settings, creating an agenda that inspired attendees to “Lead By Design.” Experts from the world of business and medicine shared their expertise and practical tips on topics including negotiation, conflict resolution, mentorship and more.
The inaugural RISE Conference took place in February 2023 in New York City. Sessions included candid panel discussions with department chiefs, funding organizations, and industry sponsors to highlight existing opportunities for women cardiologists, and identify the changes that are still needed. We were joined by three incredible keynote speakers, Dr. Sasha Shillcutt, Eric Collins and Geena Davis!
