Bridging the gap to give women cardiologists more opportunities

Women are highly underrepresented in cardiology and cardiovascular subspecialties and disproportionately so in treating the most complex cases. Women also comprise a significantly lower percentage of thought leaders who partner with industry on research, training, and educational efforts. This results not only in a less diverse set of experiences and opinions with which consequential scientific decisions are made but also excludes women from learning about new therapies, devices and techniques and from gaining exposure to training.

CLIMB aims to bridge this gap by allowing women physicians to develop the skills to become their field’s next thought leaders.

All the speakers were highly recognized in their respective fields and I profited a lot from those talks. It is an honor to learn from experienced women in Cardiology who have got so far in their professional academic career and it motivates me to try to follow their path.

It’s been an amazing 6 months at the CLIMB program in Heart Failure led by Dr. Victoria Delgado and Dr. Shelley Zieroth. Started this when I was a FIT, completed when I am an early career. Truly grateful to be part of this cohort. Thank you so much Women As One for this platform.

For anyone considering Women As One CLIMB, I had moderate local experience with CTOs but needed a “boost” to get to the next level. Blessed to have been a part of the inaugural CTO CLIMB program and successfully did 3 CTOs last week! Grateful to Dr. Emmanouil Brilakis and Dr. Margaret McEntegart.
