Daiichi Sankyo Europe and Women As One Join Forces to Advance Women in Cardiology and Tackle Gender Inequity in Medicine.
Women As One is proud to announce a new high-impact partnership with Daiichi Sankyo Europe, a global pharmaceutical company with a growing commitment to diversity and innovation in cardiovascular healthcare. Through the Corporate Membership+ partnership and the premier lunchtime symposium taking place during RISE @ ESC Congress 2025, Daiichi Sankyo Europe (DSE) is helping to set a new standard in supporting women in cardiology by actively addressing longstanding gaps in leadership, research, and representation.
Three ambitious goals drive this collaboration:
Together, these objectives aim to dismantle longstanding barriers and elevate the visibility and impact of women cardiologists worldwide.
“We are thrilled to welcome Daiichi Sankyo Europe as a Corporate Membership+ partner,” said Dr. Roxana Mehran, Founder of Women As One. “This collaboration demonstrates what is possible when industry leaders align with purpose-driven organizations. Together, we will broaden the reach and influence of women in cardiology while spotlighting critical issues such as gender bias in medicine and the underrepresentation of women in cardiovascular research.”
At Daiichi Sankyo Europe, we recognize the urgent need to confront gender bias in medicine and take meaningful steps to ensure equity in cardiovascular care.

The partnership’s first major public touchpoint will occur on August 28, 2025, during the RISE @ ESC Congress 2025 in Madrid, Spain. Daiichi Sankyo Europe will be one of two lunch symposium sponsors, supporting an event uniting hundreds of women physicians, thought leaders, and allies in cardiovascular medicine from around the world.
This event will provide DSE with an important platform to share its diversity goals and engage directly with women professionals shaping cardiology’s future. It also marks a key milestone in Women As One’s broader initiative to expand visibility and career advancement opportunities for women across the European cardiovascular landscape.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared vision to elevate the presence and influence of women in cardiology through meaningful, long-term initiatives. Women As One will work closely with Daiichi Sankyo Europe to connect talented women physicians within its global community to impactful scientific and professional opportunities. Drawing from the organization’s Talent Directory, which includes almost 3,000 women physicians, Women As One will provide a tailored list of potential candidates who align with DSE’s specific needs, such as geographic focus or subspecialty interest. This thoughtful matching process ensures that the right individuals are positioned for leadership roles in scientific initiatives, clinical research, and educational forums.
RISE @ ESC Congress 2025 will also serve as a key platform to foster in-person engagement between DSE and a vibrant network of women physicians. Through branded event participation and direct interaction, the event will enable DSE to build new relationships with early- and mid-career cardiologists, reinforce its commitment to gender equity, and create valuable pathways for collaboration.
The partnership will also elevate expert voices on the unique aspects of cardiovascular disease in women, helping to fill critical knowledge and visibility gaps. This work contributes to a broader effort to enhance understanding of how cardiovascular conditions uniquely affect women and to advance the development of more personalized, inclusive treatment strategies.
Recognizing the critical need to address the underrepresentation of women in clinical trials, Women As One and DSE are also aligning around initiatives that raise awareness of gender-specific differences in care and clinical research participation. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to support future-facing strategies that elevate women as leaders and research participants, ultimately contributing to a more equitable healthcare landscape.
“At Daiichi Sankyo Europe, we recognize the urgent need to confront gender bias in medicine and take meaningful steps to ensure equity in cardiovascular care,” said Inês Silva, Senior Manager, Medical Engagement Strategy at Daiichi Sankyo Europe. “Partnering with Women As One allows us to support women cardiologists and accelerate change where it’s most needed, in leadership, research, and patient outcomes.”
This partnership represents more than sponsorship; it’s a strategic collaboration grounded in shared values. Combining DSE’s scientific excellence and global footprint with Women As One’s network and mission-driven approach, the initiative seeks to deliver a sustainable impact in gender equity in medicine.
As cardiology continues to evolve, elevating the role of women is not only the right thing to do, but it is essential to improving healthcare outcomes for all. Through intentional investment, inclusive leadership, and collaborative action, Women As One and Daiichi Sankyo Europe are laying the foundation for a more equitable future in cardiology.
This collaboration demonstrates what is possible when industry leaders align with purpose-driven organizations. Together, we will broaden the reach and influence of women in cardiology.
