Announcing the Winners of the Escalator Awards Research Scholars Program

Published Date – 25 November 2024

Women As One, in partnership with the Global CVCT Forum, is delighted to announce the Escalator Awards Research Scholars for 2024. Now in its second year, this prestigious award aims to support and promote high-potential women physicians with growing interest and experience in clinical trials. The program, previously known as the CLIMB Research Scholars Program in 2023, continues to build on its mission to enhance the visibility of women in clinical trial leadership and create professional connections that foster future success.

In September, a call for nominations was distributed to a select group of leaders in cardiology, including current CVCT faculty, CLIMB faculty, and Escalator Awards reviewers. This resulted in 20 nominations of rising women trialists from seven countries. In early November, a review committee of six world-leading physicians convened to evaluate the nominations and select the winners. This esteemed committee included faculty from both Women As One programs and CVCT.

The program is designed to support the overarching mission of Women As One: creating unique professional opportunities for women physicians, focusing on developing more clinical trial leaders. Research consistently shows that diversity in clinical trial leadership enhances the diversity of patient recruitment, leading to more relevant and comprehensive scientific findings.

We are proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Escalator Awards Research Scholars program:

The awardees will attend the Global CVCT Forum from December 9-11, 2024, and feature prominently in the faculty with their involvement tailored to their clinical specialties. Additionally, they will participate in a leadership lunch with key faculty from CVCT, Women As One, and industry leaders. This lunch provides a valuable opportunity for the awardees to discuss their paths to clinical trial leadership in an informal setting and learn from trailblazers in the field.

We are also excited to highlight a joint session at the CVCT Forum titled “Women In Trials: Yes We Can!” which will take place on Monday morning, December 9th. Notably, 2023 Research Scholars award winner Dr. Erin Bohula will present during this session, sharing her insights and experiences.

Women As One and CVCT Forum remain committed to fostering diversity in clinical trial leadership and providing invaluable opportunities for women in cardiology. We want to thank Abbott and Novo Nordisk for their generous sponsorship of these awards.
