Jane Leopold MD

Dr. Leopold is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, an interventional cardiologist, and Director of both the Women’s Interventional Cardiology Health Initiative, and the Cardiovascular Research Core at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is an established investigator in clinical studies of precision medicine in pulmonary vascular disease and an internationally recognized vascular biology researcher with expertise in vascular phenotyping. Her work is funded by the American Heart Association and the NIH/NHLBI and she is the Deputy Editor for cardiology at the New England Journal of Medicine.

Business Acumen for Physicians: What’s Essential?

Ruth Reiner, MBA, former Global Director of the Executive MBA program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, will lead a “mini-MBA” foundational course on business acumen for physicians. She’ll be joined by Grace Lin, MD, MBA and co-founder of HeartScreen Health, and Robin Germany, MD, of Zoll Respicardia, to round out the application of the content from multiple perspectives.

Ruth Reiner is an executive leadership coach and consultant organizational committed to creating positive change for individuals, teams, organizations, and communities with a focus on inclusion, insight, and action. She has more than 20 years’ experience assisting organizations to align their business models and human resource strategies with their business goals through strategic planning; leadership and team development; change management; and organizational capability development. Ruth’s style is facilitative, practical, and dynamic.

Ruth created and led the Global Career and Leadership Development team for the Executive MBA Program at Chicago Booth, serving hundreds of Executive MBA students across 40+ countries, virtually and in-person at campuses in Chicago, London, and Hong Kong. She also launched and led the leadership development team that served all part-time MBA students at Chicago Booth. The team managed the required LEAD course for more than 500incoming Evening MBA, Weekend MBA, and Executive MBA students each year, as well as additional leadership programming and coaching. Prior to joining Chicago Booth, Ruth held a number of roles in organization development, talent development, learning, and change management at Motorola, BP, Ruth L. Reiner Consulting, and CSC Index Consulting.

Ruth’s coaching and consulting clients have included a variety of large public organizations, as well as the City of Chicago and a number of non-profit organizations, including a Chicago-based Federally Qualified Health Center, Chicago Urban League, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Heart Rhythm Society.

Pamela Douglas MD

Pamela S Douglas MD is the Ursula Geller Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Duke University. She has led several landmark multicenter randomized clinical trials and outcomes research studies and is renowned for her scientific and policy work in improving the quality and appropriateness of imaging in clinical care, clinical trials, and registries.

Dr Douglas helped to establish several important specialty areas including heart disease in women, sports cardiology, and cardio-oncology. Dr. Douglas’ wealth of experience includes authorship of over 600 peer reviewed manuscripts and 30 practice guidelines, service as the President of the American College of Cardiology, President of the American Society of Echocardiography, and Chief of Cardiology at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Duke University. She has served on the External Advisory Council of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the Scientific Advisory Boards of the National Space Biomedical Institute and the Patient Advocate Foundation. Among her most cherished recognitions are the naming in her honor of the American College of Cardiology’s Distinguished Leadership Award in Diversity and Inclusion and the American Society of Echocardiography’s Research Scholar Award.
