Women As One is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 Mentorship Awards, a cornerstone initiative designed to accelerate the advancement of women in cardiology through structured mentorship and focused research support. Building on the success of previous years, the 2026 awards will continue to address critical gaps in cardiovascular science while empowering women physicians to lead meaningful, practice-changing research.
Awardees are matched in structured, cross-institutional mentorship partnerships designed to foster accountability, expand professional networks, and increase visibility within the global cardiology community. Through Women As One’s international platform, which connects thousands of women physicians across subspecialties and regions, awardees gain meaningful opportunities to collaborate beyond their home institutions, strengthen their academic portfolios, and elevate their professional profiles.
By centering sex-specific science, equitable care delivery, and leadership development, the 2026 Mentorship Awards directly advance Women As One’s mission to promote talent in medicine and ensure that opportunity keeps pace with ability.
Applications open on March 16 and close on April 2, with winners announced in early May.

Open to Europe-based physicians only, this award will focus on adherence to lipid-lowering therapy in women. Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death among women globally, yet treatment adherence gaps persist.
Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in cardiology leadership, research authorship, and senior academic roles. At the same time, important gaps persist in how cardiovascular disease is studied, diagnosed, and treated in women. The Mentorship Awards aim to address these interconnected challenges by pairing early-career women physicians with experienced women cardiologists (over 10 years of practice), providing protected time, expert guidance, and greater visibility for high-impact research.
Research that meaningfully includes women, both as investigators and as patients, strengthens the evidence base for cardiovascular care and helps ensure that innovation benefits everyone. By examining the social, behavioral, and systemic factors that influence treatment patterns and outcomes in women, these awards contribute to a more equitable and representative approach to cardiovascular science.
As cardiovascular medicine continues to evolve, the need for inclusive research and representative leadership has never been greater. Through the 2026 Mentorship Awards, Women As One remains committed to creating tangible pathways for women physicians to lead, publish, and shape the future of cardiology while advancing equity in care delivery worldwide.
Applications for the 2026 Mentorship Awards are open to both mentors and mentees and will be accepted between March 16 and April 2. To be considered, applicants must have a complete profile within The Pulse by Women As One and submit a letter of interest outlining why they are a strong candidate and how the award will contribute to their medical career. Mentee applicants must also provide a letter of recommendation from an institutional leader. All applicants must provide proof of good standing with their local medical licensing organization.
