ABOUT

Transforming the healthcare industry to support equity and inclusion for women

Founded in 2019 by Dr Roxana Mehran and Dr Marie-Claude Morice, Women As One stands at the forefront of promoting gender equity in cardiology. By supporting women cardiologists in their careers, we can shift the future of healthcare.

Founded to provide women in medicine greater opportunity

Women cardiologists routinely face systematic barriers in their careers compared to their male colleagues. A lack of access to advanced training, routinely passed over for promotion opportunities, fewer mentors and sponsors, pay discrimination, insufficient parental leave, and fewer opportunities to lead clinical research are a few of these challenges.

Women As One was founded to turn the tide on this inequality.

A word from our founder

We started Women As One with the pure and simple goal of helping women to succeed. There has been stagnation in the progress of women in medicine, and the profession cannot allow that to continue.

Amplifying women’s voices

We’re dedicated to showcasing the exceptional work and voices of women in medicine by promoting their individual talents and advocating for their collective interests.

Fortifying the pipeline

Through our educational and awards programs, we’ve empowered thousands of women cardiologists worldwide. From providing vital funding to offering mentorship and access to a vast professional network, we’re nurturing the next generation of medical leaders.

Unifying healthcare organizations

We bring healthcare organizations together in a shared commitment to gender diversity and inclusion. Our Talent Directory serves as a bridge, connecting top-tier talent with opportunities. By leveraging our platform, we facilitate seamless matches that advance the careers of women cardiologists.

Our Publications

We understand that publishing is important for disseminating information across academic medicine and beyond. Women As One works closely with global cardiovascular experts and professional organizations to identify opportunities to share original viewpoints and research findings related to advancing gender equity in the field. From the first time I heard of Women As One, I was so inspired and keen to be involved… The women involved are true leaders and more than that, they go to the extra mile to empower women and lift each other up so that we can all achieve what we should.
